Technical Lead

If there’s a wire to run, a system to design, or a mystery hum coming from the speakers, you can bet John Sears is already on the case—probably wearing all black and potentially even flip-flops. As an Avenue Systems’ Technical Lead, John handles the nuts and bolts of installation work and meticulously plans upcoming audio-video projects. He joined the team in August 2025 after merging his own company, Sears Audio and Video, with Avenue Systems—a move that brought his deep expertise and creative flair fully into the fold.

John’s background in live sound—both in churches and on concert stages—means he’s no stranger to pressure or perfection. Whether he’s tuning a sound system or inventing a better way to run cable, John finds genuine joy in fixing things and coming up with clever, efficient solutions. But John’s creativity doesn’t stop at solving technical puzzles—it runs much deeper. He’s a dreamer by nature, always envisioning what could be, not just what is. Whether it’s reimagining an installation layout, sketching out ideas for new gear, or brainstorming life’s next big adventure, John’s mind rarely sits still. His ability to dream big and think beyond the obvious gives every project he touches a spark of originality.

When he’s not immersed in the world of signal flow and schematics, John trades his toolbelt for a fishing rod. A true beach dweller at heart, he’s happiest with sunshine on his face, sand under his feet, and absolutely no cold weather in sight. Rooted in North Carolina, John’s Southern roots show in his love for steak, peel-and-eat shrimp, and the occasional hunting trip. 

John brings an easygoing confidence and sharp technical mind to Avenue Systems. Creative to his core, he approaches every project with equal parts imagination and precision. If it can be built, wired, or fixed, John’s already figuring out how to make it even better.
