Tucked into the skyline of Chicago, this penthouse renovation was anything but ordinary. The space itself – a high-end, open-concept living and entertaining area – called for something equally elevated. The client had a clear vision, a place where friends and family could gather, where music felt immersive, and where a game could be watched from any corner of the room without compromise.

From the beginning, it was less about adding technology and more about shaping an experience. The client, an avid vinyl collector, cared deeply about sound quality. Not just loud, but rich, balanced, and true. At the same time, the space needed to remain visually clean. Nothing intrusive. Nothing that distracted from the architecture or the atmosphere.

That’s where Avenue Systems stepped in as a partner. Although the team doesn’t usually take on residential projects, this one was different. Through a close connection, Avenue stepped in to deliver a commercial-grade solution tailored to a home setting.

Working closely with the layout and flow of the home, the team designed a solution that blended seamlessly into the environment. Motorized screens and dual laser projectors were integrated into the ceiling, disappearing completely when not in use. For audio, a distributed pendant speaker system was carefully positioned throughout the space, paired with strategically placed subwoofers to create depth without overwhelming the room.

Everything from the turntable to streaming sources for video was unified into a simple control experience, accessible right from the client’s phone. What could have been complex became intuitive.

What stands out most isn’t the equipment, it’s the feeling. The first time the system came to life, it transformed the room. Music didn’t just play; it filled the space. Games became shared moments from every angle. The technology faded into the background, exactly as intended.
