Calvary Lubbock

A Modern Worship Experience, Built Around a Historic Space

When Calvary Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas, recognized the need to modernize its sanctuary’s audiovisual systems, the goal was bigger than replacing outdated equipment. The church needed a reliable, integrated technology solution that would support worship, enhance the congregation’s experience, and preserve the character of its historic space.

Referred to Avenue Systems by a former client, Calvary Baptist Church partnered with our team to reimagine its sanctuary from the ground up. The project included a complete audiovisual infrastructure upgrade and the creation of a dedicated video control room, giving the church new capabilities for producing and managing worship services.

The sanctuary presented unique design challenges. With a circular layout, a domed roof, and ceiling heights exceeding 50 feet, conventional installation methods weren’t always an option. An inaccessible, structurally challenging stage facade added another layer of complexity. Avenue’s team developed creative mounting and rigging solutions, positioning equipment above the projection screens and flying subwoofers to deliver the performance the space required.

The integrated system features a D&B Audiotechnik speaker system configured for consistent mono coverage throughout the sanctuary, Elation lighting, and Panasonic projection. New cable pathways, strategically positioned cameras, and a purpose-built video control room bring the individual technologies together into a cohesive, functional system.

Throughout the project, the team balanced modern performance with thoughtful design, respecting the architectural elements that make the sanctuary distinctive while creating a refreshed, contemporary worship environment.

The result is more than a technology upgrade. Calvary Baptist Church now has the infrastructure, tools, and flexibility to communicate its message more effectively and create a more engaging worship experience for its congregation. Through creative problem-solving, technical expertise, and a collaborative partnership, Avenue Systems helped transform a challenging space into a sanctuary ready to serve its community for years to come.
