Riverglen: Making the Most of What You Have
Riverglen’s latest project with Avenue Systems was about more than replacing aging technology. It was an opportunity to rethink how their spaces could serve their church and community for years to come.
The project included two very different spaces: an LED wall upgrade in the main worship space and the renovation of a former sanctuary into a new kids’ ministry area. While the projects had different needs, both centered around the same idea, creating technology that works for the people actually using it.
One of the most unique aspects of the kids’ area was the opportunity to give an existing space a completely new purpose. Avenue took a “redemptive engineering” approach, incorporating existing racks and speakers that were still in good working order rather than replacing equipment simply because it was older. The result was a refreshed, functional system that made the most of what Riverglen already had.
The system also had to be simple. With teenagers and kids’ ministry volunteers operating the technology instead of dedicated AV staff, ease of use was a major part of the design. The goal wasn’t to create a complicated system that required an expert in the room, it was to give volunteers the confidence to walk in and make everything work.
In the main worship space, Avenue installed ATS Pro WX Series LED walls for the side displays, along with a touring-grade panel for the center display to allow for future flexibility. One particularly important detail was ATS Pro’s “Shutter Fit” technology, which allowed the new LED walls to work well with Riverglen’s existing Panasonic cameras without creating moiré or flickering issues — something that mattered both in the room and on the church’s livestream.
For Riverglen, the project was about making thoughtful improvements without losing sight of what was already working. And for Avenue, it was another example of how good AV design isn’t always about starting over — sometimes, it’s about knowing what’s worth keeping and finding a better way forward.
