Transforming a High-Stakes Conference Room into a Seamless, Enterprise-Level Experience

When Equity Residential—a leading S&P 500 company specializing in real estate investment—faced persistent AV issues in their largest conference room, they needed more than a quick fix. This was the room where annual shareholder meetings, executive presentations, and high-profile livestreams took place. Yet, the existing system was unreliable, filled with mismatched hardware, and lacked integration with Google Meet, the company’s primary collaboration platform.

Referred to Avenue Systems by a production company familiar with their expertise, Equity Residential sought a partner who could restore functionality, elevate performance, and bring confidence back to their mission-critical meetings. “When we first visited the site, it was clear the existing setup wasn’t meeting Equity Residential’s needs,” explained David Price, Owner and CEO of Avenue Systems. “The equipment in place wasn’t optimized for their workflow or certified for the platforms they relied on, leading to ongoing system challenges and productivity setbacks. Our goal was to create a reliable, cohesive environment that would restore confidence and efficiency in their most important meeting space.”

Designing the Solution

Avenue Systems began by completely overhauling the space with a new Q-SYS-based ecosystem, fully integrated with Google Meet. The centerpiece of the redesign was a 98-inch interactive touchscreen display, serving as both a presentation hub and ADA-compliant digital whiteboard. This addition allowed presenters to annotate content in real time—whether addressing the board in person or connecting with remote shareholders across the country.

Two high-definition cameras were strategically placed: one directed at the presenter, and another mounted above the center display to capture participants with full PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) control. The system also introduced multiple input options, giving presenters flexibility to share from various devices with ease. Native Android capabilities were built into the central screen, simplifying the workflow for spontaneous, in-room presentations without additional hardware.

Collaboration and Partnership

The partnership between Avenue Systems and Equity Residential was defined by trust and collaboration. The Avenue team presented a range of tailored options, allowing the client to choose the features that best suited their workflow and budget. “They opted for a clean, enterprise-level system without unnecessary bells and whistles,” said Price. “It was about reliability and simplicity—getting it right.”

Impact and Outcome

The transformation was immediate and profound. Equity Residential’s flagship conference room went from disjointed to dependable—supporting smooth, high-quality meetings that aligned with the company’s executive standards. “The feedback was overwhelmingly positive,” noted Price. “They appreciated our responsiveness, flexibility, and the overall ease of working together.”

What began as a crisis of confidence in their technology became a showcase of what thoughtful design, strong communication, and technical excellence can achieve. For Equity Residential, the new system didn’t just restore functionality—it restored peace of mind and elevated every meeting that followed.
